While this event had been planned for months, what you are about to see took place in the middle of rising tensions inside of Israel. That is true courage and a dedication to a brighter tomorrow.
Throughout its 45-year history, ITEC has welcomed Israeli youth into its programs without regard to culture, religion or background. Jewish, Arab, Christian, Bedouin, Druze and others have come together at ITEC’s 16 centers around the country to meet, play, learn and grow in a safe space.
Now ITEC is bringing its unique formula for inclusion directly into Arab communities with the groundbreaking announcement of new collaborations with the Arab city of Tayibe and the Bedouin city of Rahat. Tayibe is the second largest Arab city in Israel and Rahat is the country’s largest Bedouin city.
ITEC’s Leadership Day on May 20, 2021 revealed the details of this major new initiative through a day of cross-cultural leadership training, imparting the values of the game through tennis demonstrations, lectures and hospitality. The goal is to work towards building a center in Tayibe and in the meantime, begin to develop programs to help the children of Tayibe thrive.
