Youth Helping Youth: Creating Positive Change Together

Posted on: 08/16/2023

The Israel Tennis & Education Centers and Tennis Canada recently partnered to create a cross-cultural ‘home and away’ experience for young high performance tennis players at the International Cup, a U12 team event. The first leg of the event took place in Toronto from August 9th–16th. (Learn More, HERE).

While the kids were busy getting tennis instruction and improving their game, they were also given the opportunity to share their talents with the Toronto community.

On one special day, Team Israel and Team Canada participated in a giveback opportunity with the children of the San Romanoway Revitalization Association. The San Romanoway Revitalization Association is a non-profit social service agency that provides meals, after-school assistance, and summer programming for at-risk children and youth in the community.

The Teams went to the Jane & Finch Community of Toronto to host the clinic, thanks in part to the support of Philpott Children’s Tennis who provided additional coaches and tennis equipment for the event.

The Israel and Canada Teams enjoyed coaching the next generation of tennis players, showing them the basics of holding a tennis racket, hitting the ball, and footwork. Even at the young age of 12 years old, the Teams saw firsthand how they can make a difference in their communities and give back.

Stay tuned for more stories from this exciting exchange!
