ITEC alum Shadi Altori recently participated in a virtual panel discussion on the role of sports in bridging divides and building a shared society in Israel.

ITEC was invited by JXJ, a multidisciplinary arts project that encompasses the Washington Jewish Film and Music Festivals to select one of our Arab athletes to participate in this program. Shadi is of Arab Beduin heritage so his point of view on this matter is very relevant.

The panel discussion also included film director Shuki Guzik and was moderated by Erica Shaps, Program and Resources Manager at the Inter Agency Task Force on Israeli Arab Issues.

The event was broadcast on May 26, 2021.

The program was arranged two months prior to the violent escalation of tensions in Israel. At ITEC we consider efforts to build a shared and equitable society between Arab and Jewish citizens of Israel to be as crucial as ever, if not more so, as a path forward.
