The US Open is a spectacle. It hosts the best players in the world and in its 50th year, the facility just keeps getting better and better. It’s a truly magnificent event. But what made it so special to me this year was seeing the sheer, unfiltered joy in the faces of the young ITEC players that were here to experience it all.
We brought the exhibition team of Shadi, Jessica, Jennifer, Ariel and coach Badia to Opening Day here at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center, in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, Queens, New York City. We were so fortunate to be joined by one of our ITEC all-time greats, Andy Ram.
We tried to get it all in…and came pretty close. In addition to watching some incredible matches, we toured the whole facility, checked out the 1st class food court and saw all the limited edition, first-to- market tennis gear…and let’s not forget the people watching.
We were no longer a group of people from Israel and New York, there within the grounds of the US Open, we were members of the global tennis community,
The US Open is indeed a very special place. And the ITEC is a very special place for the 20,000 children per year that are served by the Israel Tennis & Education Centers. Thank you to the ITEC community for making dreams come true for all the ITEC children – and congratulations to the US OPEN on its 50th Anniversary!
