The Israel Tennis & Education Centers Foundation is pleased to announce that Julie Rabinowitz, second generation ITEC donor and fundraiser, has joined the ITEC as Director for the Mid-Atlantic region and Palm Springs, CA area.
“I am thrilled to be welcoming Julie to our organization, especially during this, our 40th anniversary,” said Executive Vice President of Global Development Jacqueline Glodstein. “Her many years of distinguished volunteering will help expand the ITEC’s visibility to develop important new investors.”
Julie’s demonstrated leadership and fundraising abilities have been cultivated in and around the Washington DC area for over three decades. Originally from Iowa, she earned her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Iowa before moving to the DC area to work in various law-related positions both in the government and private sectors. Most recently she spent 15 years as Senior Director and Counsel at Wyeth in its Federal Government Relations Office.
Throughout this time her passion has been the State of Israel and the children from the country’s immigrant and underserved communities who have strived to lift themselves from their difficult circumstances. So when the opportunity came along to serve in a professional capacity at the ITEC, she was eager to have the chance to serve.
“Back in 1969, when I first traveled to Israel, I noticed there were hardly any tennis courts to be found. Later, I remember hearing some of the ITEC founders speak of creating a safe and nurturing place where children could go and experience some normalcy while learning key life skills that would help them become productive members of Israeli society. Years later I had the pleasure of hosting ITEC teams who came to the US to meet with donors and share their stories about the impact of the ITEC on their lives. I continue to be impressed by the stories of the many alumni I meet. It has been a very inspiring relationship for me.”
In her current capacity with the ITEC, one of the first initiatives Julie has organized is a collaborative program involving the ITEC and the JTCC (Junior Tennis Champions Center), the USTA Tennis Academy in College Park, Maryland, to bring tennis programs for the entire family to the campuses of the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in the greater Washington DC area throughout the year. After sending her two children to CESJDS, Julie was hired as a part-time tennis coach, and she has helped facilitate regular visits by ITEC teams to CESJDS.
