Israeli-American Coach Looks for First NBA Title

Blatt grew up in Massachusetts and would later go to Princeton University to play point guard for his team and receive his degree. He went to Israel and played for 12 seasons during which he gained dual citizenship in Israel.

Once his playing days were over he became an assistant coach on an Israeli pro basketball team, Hapoel Galil Elyon. After a few years of being an assistant he finally got his chance to be a head coach traveling the world coaching teams in different countries such as Italy and Russia. He would later return to Israel to coach Maccabi Tel Aviv where he captured the championship just last year.

He returned to America to be the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers that features superstar LeBron James. Following a long and grueling season, the team clinched a spot in the NBA Finals with hopes of bringing a title back to Cleveland. After winning their Eastern Conference Title, the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, let David Blatt know that Israel will be supporting him as the Cavaliers take on the Golden State Warriors for the NBA Championship.
